Salmon in fifty different ways....

I adore salmon - especially the yummy smoked varieties you can get from Scotland and the Scandanavian countries. When we lived in Aberdeen I used to buy some of the best wild smoked salmon I have ever tasted in my life. Yesterday for lunch I had a huge bowl of great salmon salad from a local deli. One item I almost always have in my fridge is a packet of smoked salmon but was too lazy to prepare a salad (sad isn't it?).

As we happen to live in one of the really tempting parts of Paris - as far as food and too many other things go - we also have two fantastic great marches, great gourmet food stores (including teas, coffees, chocolates etc) and there is this deli called Maison Nordique on Faubourg St. Honore which I frequent- where you can buy heavenly salmon, caviar, truffles, vodkas.... The deli makes fresh sandwiches, Norwegian cakes and salads every day for lunch (my favourite is one with crayfrish, prawns and lots of smoked salmon).

I think I am in mood for such delish spreads mainly in summer months. Though we tend to eat scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for brunch on weekends in the cooler months.

I am a pisces and utter shame on me for wanting to eat almost any and all yummy fissies! However, I have been told since I was a child that it is good brain food so I think I have a legit need! :D

French women spend hours and twelve products or so to look natural...

I met a dear friend after my facial recently and while at the facial I happened to tell my facialist how very lucky she was - not having to wear any makeup and that her skin was really that envious glowy variety. She told me that she uses 12 make up products to achieve that natural look. My god - I could not believe her - she took me through all the steps and I (a slap dash make up person - my goal in life is to look perfect in 5 minutes flat!) nearly fainted. Then my friend C confirmed over lunch that she did the same and I was ready to say why bother at all! I like to look like I have a hint of makeup - no I do not walk around Paris with blue eyeshadow, false eyelashes and bright pink cheeks but hey not that painfully natural! What is the point at all? Why bother? I would rather not wear any makeup.

A way to my heart dear Santa (I know it is April)....

would be to get me 10000000000000s of packets of Harry and David (since 1934) Moose Munch Original Toffee Moose Munch with whole Cashews and Almonds.
I have finally found a real full fat snack to get challenge my will power which is près que zero!
This was introduced in a huge goodie package I received from a dear friend D from across the pond. I had to check out the site to make sure they exist and that I am not eating some blissful imaginary morsels as the box got emptier.....yes they do have a huge successful e-comerce set up. I am really the happiest person in the world now..... Try these at your peril - a real disclaimer if I lived in the US I would not try this as they are the most addictive snacks I have ever tasted in my three decades of living on this planet (ooops gave my age away!)

A favourite blog is...

http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/blog/perfumetalk

Robin has created this really informative and fun blog. The topics are always inclusive and I like the way she always takes comments well. She also seems really selfless in how she wants to make this an enjoyable experience for her readers. This is how I want to keep/write my blog if and when I grow up.

Just wanted to share.

How I love the Chanel boutique here...

on rue Cambon. This week I went there twice to test Chanel 22 after reading a dear friend's reviews on the perfume.

The Chanel website describes this fragrance as:

The lively opening of the aldehydes tempers the headier bouquet of the white flowers: Jasmine, Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang and Rose. It develops sensually, traveling through Vanilla to Incense, spiked with a touch of Vetiver. Elegance, harmony and virtuosity at the heart of apparent simplicity. Exists as an Extract: 15 ml and 30 ml bottles. And as an Eau de Toilette: 100 ml spray.

I also adore the other three - Cuir de Russie, Bois des Iles and Gardenia in perfume strength naturally.

The Sales staff there are really polite - even if you go there to browse. I explored their bags - the quilted ones are very "in". I love the black messenger and luckily for me they were out of stock. Lately I have been using my messenger bags (post my traumatic wallet snatching experience outside Bon Marche). Here are the details of Chanel should you want to drop by.
The two current Chanel models Vanessa Paradis and Kate Moss have both dated one of my favourite actors Johnny Depp. Vanessa is married to him.

Address for Haute Couture Clients (by appointment only): Chanel, 31 rue Cambon, 75001 Paris, France, Phone: 0033-1-42.86.28.00, Website: www.chanel.com

There is something special about visiting original flagship boutiques - I get the same feeling about Guerlain, Hermes, Caron (the service in ave Montaigne is not perfect) - therefore I go to the newer one at 90 Faubourg St. Honore.

Otherwise - this week has whizzed by at an amazing supersonic speed - when you realize that the older we get the quicker days seem to fly by. I have not achieved too much work wise but I needed this week to recover from stresses of past several weeks. The stresses are there but I am really becoming an expert at ignoring them.

I have now decided to take one day at a time (famous last words) and see what I can do best each day. The weather has been mixed and I am not feeling all that great so will chill out and rest.

Hope you are all enjoying your week.

I challenge you to wear eyeshadow the way Lacroix's models...

wear for summer 2005! A friend and I thought we saw none other than the fascinating colourful Christian Lacroix near Avenue Montaigne. I had to surf his amazing website. It is fun to explore and check their makeup and hairstyles....

I saw a fantastic exhibition on the arts of Brazilian Indians this afternoon at the Grand Palais with this dear friend and it was absolutely fascinating. This wonderfully curated exhibition will be on till 27 June 2005. Any visitors to Paris please try to see this and get tickets before (it is always best for these large exhibitions at the Grand Palais. I will revisit this soon (yes I like to see large exhibitions a couple of times if I can!)

April showers in Paris - makes the weather kind of cool and romantic (if you are not walking on the dog poo littered streets!).

Hope you are all having a good week!

Enjoy!!

PS I am not a royalist - just enjoy watching them!!

I decided to edit the name of this blog as I...

have not written about London in a while. It makes more sense not to have that pressure - just focus where I am at the moment. When I do visit London - I will write about it and take many more photos than I have posted. Thought that was being unfair to London!!

Some flowers at a local florist...

One of the corners of Place Vendome..

Here is another! Amazing how gorgoeus the colours can be...

Some recent cloudscapes...

When work takes over your life...

The past weeks have been really intense and hectic to say the least. I cannot disclose much about my project here but it is quite a big one and it is taking most of my time - waking and those sleeping (nightmare) hours.

Now on to fun matters - spring appears to be here. However it is moody as a season like this can be. Here are some photos of my favourite subject matter - yep cloudscapes....

Have a great week!!

Spring is here and some news...

Miller et Bertaux have come out with their new perfume in the series of #1 and #2
it is called #3 (bless them for their imagination in this case) - all I know is that it is a very GREEN fragrance from the invite received today. Will check out to let you know when I do.

This past week has been incredibly busy for me workwise (new project and perfumepaths)which is why I have not been able to update this blog. Easter weekend was fabulous in Belgium and then this week has been good but a lot of work.
I had a perfumepaths tour with a great client from the US. Summer visitors are starting to book and I think it will be good fun.

Have a super weekend!
